Red Alert 3 Under Development

Hey folks, I was just checking my mail and came across this gem.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying one of the best years ever for PC gaming.

On the eve of one of our own major releases, The Lord of the Rings™, The Battle for Middle-earth™, the one thing we've grown to understand is how important the community - our most loyal supporters - is for industry. This started back in our days at Westwood where the community for our games has always been a big priority. We understand that you are the most important and influential group for us and we are constantly amazed at the amount of talent used to create quality assets and mods.

Having said that, we have a MAJOR announcement to make and we are making it exclusively to our long time C&C fans. This announcement is not going out to the press and it won't appear on the EA website or anywhere else online. We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer™ Red Alert 2™, Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge™, and Command & Conquer™ Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe!

As I mentioned, we're very proud to ship what we feel is one of the best RTS games ever released. Most of you have probably heard of The Lord of the Rings™, The Battle for Middle-earth™ which hits stores this week. We've introduced some really innovative features and gameplay mechanics, which you should definitely check out when you get a chance. You will also see a major enhancement to the Sage graphics engine we originally created for Command & Conquer Generals. Expect us to leverage and continue to evolve this powerful engine as we start work on our new Command & Conquer game.

Thanks again for all your support over the years. This entire team is incredibly excited to work on the next Command & Conquer chapter. Look for an official announcement soon and have a wonderful holiday.

Mark Skaggs
VP and Executive Producer
Electronic Arts
So far I've loved every C&C game (Tiberian what? What are you talking about, that's no C&C game I've ever heard of), so this is rather good news. Of course, it seems incredibly odd that they just sent out the e-mail to fans and haven't announced it anywhere at all yet, but whatever. I can't find any evidence to support it being a prank or a scam.

Here's hoping it lives up to the rest of the series.

Save Your Halo 2 Stats

If you didn't already know, you could head over to http://www.bungie.net to read about the ever popular XBOX title, Halo 2. The site also allows you to check your stats as well as your friend's stats too. Did you know you could save your stats to your own computer and use Microsoft Excel to manipulate the data into lines or charts?

When you are checking out your stats on Bungie.net, look at the top right corner for the "XML" button. That button links you to your stats. Now, go to Samuel Radakovitz' website and download his "Halo 2 RSS Excel Workbook" which just happens to have a new release today. Read his instructions and get way to deep into your stats! It even can tell you what hour you are at your best gaming. This is necessary to know so you can avoid the hours in which you suck. Although his program does not save all your stats, it does save the most important stuff. You will need Microsoft Office 2003 Pro edition with Excel to use the XML feed.

The PSP Descends...
- Posted 12:56 AM By EvilTekno

Over the weekend eager gamers in Japan got their hands on the new PSP as it hit retail shelves. Only about 200,000 units where made available at launch which led to faithful gamers waiting up to 24 hours in 5 degree celsius weather just to be able to claim one for themselves. Only about 500,000 units are expected to reach shelves by the end of the holiday season.

With both Nintendo and Sony shipping their new portable game systems out in time for the holiday season, it will be interesting to see how things come out. However, limited number of units, and the fact the PSP will not be available in the United States until early next year, seems to give the Nintendo DS a healthy lead.

The PSP retails for 9,800 yen ($189), but has already been spotted on ebay for more then $500 by fans who can't seem to wait for the American launch.

JoWood Productions offically announces Gothic III.

Rottenmann, Austria, 14th of December 2004: JoWooD Productions continues its successful cooperation with the German developer Piranha Bytes by publishing one of the most spectacular titles of the coming year: Gothic III, the third part of the legendary RPG saga. "Being listed in all major 'most wanted' charts across Europe, Gothic III is the top title of the coming year. To publish a game with such popularity, potential and quality, is a great chance for us to push a world-wide known brand even further" ,comments Andreas Tobler, CEO of JoWooD Productions Software AG. JoWooD Productions takes this chance and will try to break RPG selling records of the past!
Check out the full press release here.

If you're not familiar with the Gothic series is probably because it was not as well known here on American shores, but was widely popular across europe.

EA Sports Buys Exclusive NFL Rights
- Posted 8:17 PM By WaRMaN
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    4 Comments | Add
EA Sports recently struck a deal with the National Football League (NFL) and the Players INC to have exclusive rights to player names, stadium names and pretty much everything else that has to do with the NFL for the next five years. What does this mean for the other football developers? They will not be able to develop football games that have any NFL content. So, the Madden NFL series will be the only NFL football game you will see on game shelves!

Sega and Take Two responded by saying it would not crush them financially, but would stop the integrity of developing a better game each year. Also, the days of ESPN's $19.99 NFL games are over. EA pretty much bought the rights to ensure you pay $50 or more their title. With no competition, will EA Sports put forth the effort to better the game? I can't believe that such a thing has happened, or let happen by all the money hungry parties.

I have stated before how EA sports releases "patches" every year and calls them "games." Madden NFL is not worth $50 every year. EA has shown it's greed before by stating there is more money to take from the gamers and we will take it. I was so happy when EA's President moved on allowing XBOX LIVE fans to enjoy all EA sports titles, but I never saw the buy out from EA, or is it the sell out of the NFL and Players INC? The NFL players are so well taken care of financially that I can't see why it is necessary to cheat videogamers out of a competitive market of NFL games.
