3DActionPlanet has done a article on the history of copy protection and its failure to succeed. In my opinion they should just give up, as stated in the article:
The real solution is to make very good games.

When a game is really good, people that want to play it WILL pay for it. People that won't pay will almost certainly be uninterested with the game.
Stop over there and check it out, it has some nice flashbacks from the days of keycodes.
