While reading up on the daily news over at Slashdot, I came across a rather humerous little link reguarding an online archaeology dig for the first use of the smiley. While it's not game related, I thought it was rather interesting project for somebody to undertake for something many people use daily in e-mail correspondence. Word:"After a significant effort to locate it, on September 10, 2002 the original post made by Scott Fahlman on CMU CS general bboard was retrieved by Jeff Baird from an October 1982 backup tape of the spice vax (cmu-750x)." Oh what wonderful ways of spending time we do come up with to amuse ourselves when we're bored.
