Great news for fans of Gigabit networking, the new IEEE 802.3ae standard for 10 Gigabit/second Ethernet has been approved. Those of you out there running plain old Gigabit Ethernet, you are now officially obsolete. The one downside, if you can consider it that, is that the new standard is fiber only, NoCopperForYou! Wonder how much an 80port switch would cost? Hmmmm.
