New Technology To Thwart DoS Attacks

While not really gaming related, you're favorite gaming sites have probably gone a round or two with this beast in the past and it's nice to see work being done to shore up network defenses. Now comes word that Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT - Japanese phone company), has invented new technology to prevent distributed denial of service attacks.It works, the paper said, by using bridge devices which can detect the source of attacks and prevent access to these while allowing other data to continue to flow across the network.
The bridge devices query the data streaming in when an attack occurs, and sniff for similar suspicious data further up the the internet, eventually identifying the source of the attack. Now if only they could beef it up to dispatch the feds after the source is located, haha.
