Best RTS out now

All,

I'm getting together with some friends soon and are planning on spending a couple of days gaming. We started off our multi-player gaming with TotalAnnihilation which we spent way too much time on. Then we moved on to Diablo. Then Starcraft/BroodWar. Then Diablo II/LOD. Then Dungeon Siege. Now Warcraft III.

We are all bored with our current selection of games and want to play one we haven't played before. I'm trying to find the perfect game for us. I think we are done with RPG's for right now. We spend so long playing them that it gets old. So...that's why I'm looking for a RTS.

We are getting together Nov 2nd so any game out now or before then is perfect. I'd really like to find a game as addicting as TA. Starcraft was great too.

Please let me know your opinions.

If you're looking for an RTS that'll take awhile to play (I relate it to a game of monopoly) - check out Empire Earth - they just brought out an expansion. It's rather in-depth, you go all the way from stone age through the nano-age. It's worth a few laughs and can definately suck some time like no other.

I don't know if we are talking about the best RTS out, but the game America's Army is a pretty good multiplayer game for free. You should give it a shot sometime.

Empire earth is one long rts game if any to play. It literally takes a good 2 hours to play a decent round in that game. Multiplayer was maddening there as well due to the long time it takes. Don't get me wrong, the game was really fun, but it had its weak points.

On a side note, out of those 5 or so games you listed pcgod, diablo 1/2 and dungeon siege are not considered to be RTS by most.

So...RPG then...Either way, we are about to try TA Kingdoms...found a copy at a yardsale for $5. Any other multiplayer games anyone wants to suggest...that'd be great. No FPS...I get motion sickness playing them...sucks.
