CS Tourney Stuff

If we start this tournament on saturday afternoon.. Is everyone going to be there in time or is everyone going to complain because we started it too soon....

Posted by Anthos on 01-20-2003 11:04 PM:

Or we could start it at 4am !! Hahahaha....sorry, had to get that in there before someone else brought it up. I say, just announce it and those that want to compete in it will be there. If they can't be there, then they don't REALLY wanna be in it.

I think CS tourneys are best run- un-over-scheduled- (didnt know if that was a feasible word)... anyhoot... I think a starting deadline is all it needs- if novices cant make them- they bite the dust... or take an auto loss into losers bracket.

DOH... I never thought of the auto loss... That is a Great Idea... Anthos and Burn... What do you guys think about that idea...

Instead of an autoberth... it is an autodeath... ROFL..

are there going to be any seedings for the cs tourney? how big are the brackets going to be (8 team; 16 team w/byes first round)? also, is it single elim or double elim? i suggest we use cpl maps, which would exclude prodigy and have first to 13 determine the winner. just some questions and thoughts.

Posted by Squirre1 on 01-22-2003 03:37 PM:

They are 5 man teams and the bracket depends on the amount of teams... We are going to start the winners bracket on saturday and then do the loosers bracket on sunday with the final sunday afternoon...

How does that sound...?

Squirre1, saturday afternoon around 1:00pm or 12:00pm would be great just as long as you announce the time and stick to it.

[atr]-eclipze, Seeding is unneeded for this cs tournament. They used the 13 round system last time so I hope you stick with it this time. They used CPL maps last time.

Posted by Squirre1 on 01-23-2003 12:34 PM:

Actually it is 12 rounds each side with 3 round each side tie breakers if necessary. Unless I am just being a noob and you mean the first to 13 rounds... But anyway, I just run the servers. Burn and Anthos admin the CS tourneys.... I do with the servers what they ask me to....

Squirre1, I was saying first to 13 so 12 one side and then the difference to 13.

update me on this.. at the october event, de_dust was played, is that infact a cpl official map? because in my opinion, playin assault would be just as bad, if not better than playing dust.

Posted by Anthos on 01-24-2003 05:00 PM:

We'll be running the following maps:

De_Aztec, De_Cbble, De_Clan1_Mill, De_Clan2_Fire, De_Dust2, De_Inferno, De_Nuke, De_Prodigy, De_Train.

Why dont you set a time that is like 4-5 hours from when the LAN starts. If teams are "serious" about playing, they will be there at that time. And if they dont, then that is their fault cause MWGL would have given them all the info of when it will be. Making people sit around and have to wait/guess for when the tourney would be is really unprofessional.

Patience... We have the Schedule... It will be scheduled and stuck to ..... I should be posting it tonight or shortly there after...
