We are not your parents.

As a member of the MWGL team and attended the last event, it went well, everyone had fun, a few complaints but nothing to complain about. I have one though. I should had posted this earlier.

We are not your parents.

1. There was enough trash thrown under the tables to be a land fill under there. There is more than enough time to pick up that trash people and through it away in the trash cans provided.

2. We do not pick up your clothing. There were several items, such as socks, a pair of pants, etc....This stuff, unless seems like of worth value gets trashed. (Coats, keyboards, stuff like that we keep, unless notified)

3. If pop is spilt, please let us know ASAP. Do not just let it stay there and get the floors all sticky. This is also a safety hazard to others around you and the equipment. If this happens please let us know. It is a lot easier to clean up then, instead of later after it has dried.

We have been lucky to a person generous enough to let us have our events at their locations. Yes we picked up your slobbing landfill and mopped up your piss, but to say, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOMEONE TRASHED YOUR HOUSE. Ok, it was not a pretty site. So if you would, please be a little more respectful, save us some time, the Owner Scott will be more pleased, and everyone else can have a better time. You spend at least 24hrs of gaming, 30min eating while playing, can't you take 5min to pick up your mess?

Don't make us monitor you, when you check out, we will be checking where you were sitting. You people are no longer 4 years old, you are young adults or older. We also have several parents step in, one of them might just be yours.

Thank you,
Eric Hilden.

it's called soda, not pop.

Posted by Anthos on 01-28-2003 06:05 AM:

soda - A refreshment made from carbonated water, ice cream, and usually a flavoring.

pop - Chiefly Midwestern U.S. See soft drink. See Regional Note at tonic.

soft drink - In both senses also called soda pop, also called regionally: cold drink, drink, pop, soda, soda water, tonic.

1. A nonalcoholic, flavored, carbonated beverage, usually commercially prepared and sold in bottles or cans.
2. A serving of this beverage. See Regional Note at tonic.

Regional Note: Generic terms for carbonated soft drinks vary widely in the United States. Probably the two most common words competing for precedence are soda, used in the northeast United States as well as St. Louis and vicinity, and pop, used from the Midwest westward. In the South any soft drink, regardless of flavor or brand name, is referred to as a Coke, cold drink, or just plain drink. Speakers in Boston and its environs have a term of their own: tonic. Such a variety of regional equivalents is unusual for a product for which advertising is so aggressive and universal; usually advertising has the effect of squeezing out regional variants. On the other hand, there are so many types and flavors of soft drinks that perhaps no single generic word has ever emerged to challenge the regionalisms.

and to think I've been drinking it wrong all these years...

Posted by BurnPilot on 01-28-2003 01:22 PM:

You shoulda seen the arguements we would get in at Rolla on what it was called since there were so many people from St. Louis and Kansas City. All the St. Louis people said soda, while all the KC people said pop. People yelling out things at random in the cafeteria like "It's pop you fool, only uneducated cavemen call it soda!". We knew it didn't matter, but it sure was fun.
