I waited and waited for someone from MwGL to contact me for making arraingments for another LAN. No one called. I waited and watched the forums for someone to answer the person who started this thread. No one answered. If that makes me the bad guy so be it.
When I went and offered to help set up these LAN's I was not only putting my personal name on the line, I was putting Computer Depots reputation on the line. We posted adds, plugged radio spots and handed out flyers promoting an all night LAN event, with door prizes, raffles, and tournaments for persons attending this event. This did not occur. I left that portion of the event soley to MwGL to accomplish. I cannot place myself or Computer Depot in a position where we do not offer what we promoted. If that makes me dishonest, I think not.
I totally wanted this to be a succesful LAN event where we could have people come back month to month. This is still my goal. MwGL packed up their network gear and did not stay till the advertised time of 11:59pm. At 7pm, I find everyone packing up and stating that they were leaving because there were too few people. We had people showing up and were turned away. People who had paid were told to pack it up. I am sorry and I appologize to anyone who had to leave. Anyone who had to leave last months event (I know who you are) will be allowed to enter this months event for free.
No one was a guinea pig but, I have decided to do all future LAN events under ExtremeLANKC.com. I want people to get what they paid for and more. I know this posting will probably be deleted but, I felt I had to explain my actions.

Eh, if you have this kind of mindset, maybe you need to realize that LANs exist to have fun, and not to promote computer stores.

Computer Depot offered the space for free, did the radio spots for free, and allowed the use of their store for two days to promote this LAN. The least anyone can do is say Thank You which is what I did.

I thought I would start this thread to kind of keep everyone up to date on where we are with our LAN Tournament on June 18th. I will be on the air today (980 AM KMBZ) doing a segment on gaming. The show is The Computer Hour with Dale Griffin the owner of Computer Depot. I will be setting up my rigs at the store June 1st and 2nd allowing customers to check out not only my rigs but promoting our LAN Tournament. The show is at 2pm -3pm if you would like to listen or they will have a audio stream of the show on their website www.computerhour.com . If any members of MwGL would like to come by the store I will be there all day both days.

By the way, I stuck around Computer Depot and got to be on the Russ Johnson show! I donated some money for phone cards for the troops and Russ asked me to come on the show live, so I did about 3 minutes with him. The cool thing is that he did a free plug for our LAN Tournament on his show! How cool is that! I also talked to Mark Miller who's on the admin side of KMBZ 980 and he wants to pimp our LAN on the Jason Whitlock/Bill Maas sports show. I let him and his son play on one of my rigs and he thought it was pretty cool so lets see if that will help. I am trying to get the word out any way that I can...

So, it was our job to contact you about the next LAN? It looks like it was already made up in your mind. Sorry we didn't have the same make money mind set as yourself. You can't pick up a phone?
I know you have been to our LANs in the past and seen how a LAN is run. We pulled in over 100 people consistantly for a year. This isn't accomplished by chance. This last LAN fell victim to bad communication between a LAN group and parties who were counting the money.
Here is the final straw. You DO make money doing LANs, but you are not going to feed your family with it; or yourself for that matter. I am going to let you in on a little secret. If you continue to try to suck the money out of gamers it will bite you in the ass, and gamers don't forget. It is funny how you will be feeding your LAN attendees meals which is included in the price? Learned that from us, but made us look like assholes when you charged everyone for the first meal. $25 dollars for a LAN is f***ing rediculous for what you have in it. Especially if you are going to charge for tournies on top of that cost. 1 meal 1 drink, 1 meal 1 drink. You can't give drinks throughout the event after charging $25? Are you for real? I am still embarrased how you "miscommunicated" with us on this area, and now you are serving meals included. That does make us the guinea pig. We made so many changes because of this so called "miscomunication" and you make us look like the ass here.
Well, this is how it goes down. Your money hungry ways will bite you in the ass. And no gamer will drop a dime in a store that screws gamers. You said the location was free...Then why did Computer Depot ask me for money AFTER THE LAN. DAMNIT! Money hungry people make me sick. If Computer Depot wanted money for the spot, then ask prior to the arrangement. MwGL is infamous for top-notch profesional LANs, and I will not sit here and look like a fool because you put a dollar sign next to every aspect of the LAN. That is why they are called sponsors - BECAUSE THEY SPONSOR THE EVENT! You wanna buy a LAN be warned now.
Dude I pegged you for a great guy who can make things happen, and maybe you are still that person, but this is NOT the road you want to travel with the "businessman" mind set. Quit trying to suck more money off the gamers. It cost EA sports' Vice President his job.
I do not feel this is necessary but I am not going to let the league get slandered into a situation that was not our fault.
1st. Per you, the location was free for this event with no compensation necessary. Once the event was said and done you had the audacity to ask us for money for power without that being stated prior to us being in there.
2nd. Food was purchased to sell at the event without our approval, and you knowing clear and well that we provide free meals. No disrespect, but it is not our fault you had delivered twice as much pizza as what you should have.
3rd. If you said you talked to me about the food situation, why did you talk to someone other then me asking if I knew you were selling food and then plain as day when he told you to contact me, you never did.
The MwGL way is to make descisions as a group so they are in the best interest of the group and the attendees. Not to gouge.
Just so everyone knows just how rich we got from the last event. After the tables, chairs, the nice lunch on the second day we netted a total of $131.
WE'RE RICH... My members probably spent that much in gas money to take care of everything during the week.
There were not enough teams to do the 5v5 tournaments as slated.
And do to my recent divorce, the prizes we had anticipated were not redibly available since xome of the league stuff was scattered for storage purposes.
I think people still had a great time.
We broke down and were out by 9pm on Sat. and the 2 people who came in the 8-9 hr seemed to have never been to a LAN before because you do not goto a LAN that closes 12am at 9. Other then that there were only 3 non-MwGL people there who were digging stuff out of the woodwork to play because everything else had just been played out. I additionally gave them the option that we could stay and by no means kicked them out. Get real.
You complain about us not contacting you, but contact is a 2 way street. And Chris even said ytou were going to be calling me... Hrmmm whats that, no call.
Who ever goes, enjoy the $25 lan that is ever so conveniently formated like a MwGL event.
PS. Nice countdown on your main page... Where have I seen that before. Oh yeah, you raped it from us.

So let me recap... Computer Depot offered us space... Let YOU in to pimp your gaming rigs for two days and you happened to mention us... Of the two programs you mentioned one you were there to answer questions about gaming... and you happened to mention us. The other you were "hanging out" and happened to get on the air. Right right... Did I miss anything?
This is NOT a personal attack. I'm simply pointing out serious inconsistancies with your statements. As far as the tournament I'd just wonder what kind of response Warman got after he posted a change in the UT2k4 tourney. I only saw 3 posts under it. 2 from the same person.
You put your name on the line? I don't remember seeing it anywhere on the banners. I remember seeing MwGL tho. And I saw Computer Depot. But they, Computer Depot, didn't really risk anything... they are having more LANs.
One last thing... don't try and seperate yourself from Computer Depot. It's remarkable how you do this. One moment you say 'we' meaning you and Computer Depot (we posted ads, we plugged on radio spots, et al) The next you say you are thanking them as if you are two seperate entities.
Just my 2 pennies.
Oh and don't try to say anything about me leaving early. I brought my ass to the LAN after working 6 hours at a wedding. Loading in and out to a 3rd floor ballroom. I came because this is what I do. I'm a member of MwGL for a reason. A proud member at that.

I think if you read each of your quotes you will see that promote the LAN tournament is listed. Yes, I did mention my rigs because I build computers for a living. Yes, I do mention Computer Depot because they were involved in promoting the LAN. I handed out over 200 flyers during the 3 days I was at the store and all of them were promoting the LAN and MwGL. There was not one mention of my rigs and a simple Thank You to Computer Depot on those flyers.

From a gamers point of view, I had an OK time at the LAN. I was very annoyed with the food thing, as I had $5 collected from me, then when I went to get pizza I was told I had to pay for it? What? I didn't really open my mouth about it because I just wanted things to go smoothly, but that really didn't fly well with me at all.
As for the tournaments, I don't place that blame on anyone, there simply wasn't enough intrest in them, and not enough teams were formed. (As far as I know NO other team was formed but mine, hehe)
I think my single biggest annoyance with the event had nothing to do with any MWGL members or DD.
It was the teamkilling fucktard in the backrow in CS.
I hate that guy.
The tournaments fizzled out because there wasn't really any demand for them. The lan was full, from what I've seen for pretty much the entire event, till it got late, when people leaving is normal. I only seen one person turned away, and that was because he got there when everybody was packing up. Probably the biggest problem was the lack of door control. I know the location wasn't really conductive to it, but it would have been a lot better.
The food situation wasn't good either. It'd have been better to have just skipped the food part, let people save a few dollars, then let them fend for themselves. The pizza thing was really bad juju.
I enjoyed the event. I got to play a lot of games I don't usually get to play on lan (HL mods other than CS). It was fun, and I got what I paid for, despite the network cables going every which way.
It was a perfectly servicable event, and the next one could have been better.
