Consoles: Keyboard and mouse or not?

With the release of first person titles like Unreal Championship 2003, Ghost Recon, Halo, and the near-future releases of Counter-Strike, Return to Castle Wolfenstien and many more for the console, I have a question to ask you all.

Should consoles release a keyboard and mouse to boost competitiveness, or should they be left alone to hold true to the console gamepads?

Post your opinion!

Oh, yes. They should definately create a keyboard and mouse for a console.

This is especially true for the xBox since it is a PC in a small black case with an OS that can't really get at.

And now that they have created the LIVE connection, a keyboard and mouse would open the xBox up to chat over the live connection and a more interactive communication link by using the xBox. I have no idea whether or not the PS2 or Cube would ever do anything like this, but if they did, it would only take one company to make a profit and the rest will jump on the band wagon to make the same profit.

give it a few years, it could happen.

Later,

I like the console fps because they are slower, in a way, and they prevent
cheating. I have gotten used to (mostly) playing fps games on my xbox.. and
they arent any worse or better than pc ones, in my opinion. Also I see nothing wrong with how they got it now, except that you run into whiney high pitched voice kids that make the ears bleed. So it could be good, maybe not.

I suppose if anything, something like Belkin's N50 might be sufficient enough - heaven knows it'd be cheaper than shelling out $200 for a mech game with it's own special controller. May as well release a keyboard & mouse for 'em - the more people are getting *NIX to run on 'em, can use them as a browser as well.

No way. Keyboard/Mouse is for computer. Keep the controllers.

Blah... No fps is a true FPS without a keyboard and mouse... You just do not have the same level of control....

All it takes is a little coordination, squirrel I personally think that it's part of what makes a console great - there's a little more fun involved, because it's not quite what most are used to. I think they should keep em, all it takes is time to get used to.
