So...I was wondering, how does the CS Tourney work, will there be one team at a time competing? Then while the other teams are waiting are they practicing on differ computers? Im a little Anxious about all this. I just want to know is all, so I am prepared. Also my parents are coming, so is there something for them? Just wondering, Just some questions is all. Also since its 2 days, out of towners sleep in hotels and what not? Thank you for your time.

I will let one of the CS Admins answer your first couple of questions, but I will try and tackle the last.

As to your parents, they are welcome to come and play as well if they would like. We do have some parents that come with their kids and hook up and play. However, if that is not their thing, there are quite a few things to do in the area. Local shopping, restaurants and movies are in the area close by off of Metcalf.

Or, if they want to check out the rest of the city, Kansas City hosts the home of the Nelson-Atkins Art Musuem. This is a world famous museum, home to original works from all the major artists of each era ... including Monet, VanGogh, Renoir, and others. It is close to the Plaza around 63rd Street and Main.

In that same area is the "Plaza". Based loosely on Kansas City's sister city of Seville, Spain, the Plaza is a shopping and eating mecca. Stores like Saks 5th Avenue, Ambercrombie and Fitch, Banana Republic, and others are set in a beautiful walking area. In addition, restaurants abound like The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Changs, and K.C. Masterpiece.

As far as hotels go, there is a Best Western not too far away with a pool, and many more hotels further south on Metcalf. Most of us that attend just sleep at the location. Almost everybody brings sleeping bags and a pillow, and come nighty-night time, everyone crawls under a table or against a wall and goes to sleep.

I would recommend contacting the Kansas City Visitors Bureau if you have more questions (I'm sorry I don't have their number, but maybe one of the other guys will).

The tournament runs in brackets. Basically, it goes by rounds, but not quite so coordinated (in an effort to save time). As soon as you know your next opponent, basically, the next round is on. It's pretty much up to 8-9 hours of straight CS matches (for the finalists, at least).

Please take the time to read through this thread for a complete list of the rules. I was reading through them and there are some very minor changes that need to be made, but nothing that should affect the tournament all that much (typos, mainly )

Im sorry guys, I wont be coming, My dad says he doesnt wanna leave my mom down there, because its in the bad part of town. So since he works on Sundays, we wont be making it. Sorry guys. IM VERY UNHAPPY!

It is not a bad area. It is on the southern side of Kansas City, on the Kansas side of the border. It is close to the Shawnee Mission area, which is one of the more prestigious areas of Kansas City. It is right next to Roeland Park as a matter of fact, which has some of the nicest homes and highest paying salaried homeowners in the metropolitan area.

The LAN location itself is in a Commercial area off of the intersection of Interstate Highway 635 and Interstate Highway 35. During the week it is a Computer Retail store.

i live really close to the building that the lan parties are held infact its only a few blocks away and i can tell you that its not a bad part of town, i can walk the streets at night if i had to with no problm at all. no worries...

The Northern part of Kansas City, Missouri is pretty bad...

BUT, this is in the southern part of Kansas City, on the Kansas side... not a lot of crimei n Kansas, just lots of boring Kansans..... sorry Kansans
