I'm in the market for a new video card and have been looking at the 9800 pro. In the past ATI has had serious driver problems with games other than say.......Hearts. Is this still an issue?

As an owner of an ati card for several years, I have never had driver issues. I currently own a 9700 Pro and love it.

Like i said. the Cat 3.7's fixed a bunch of stuff for me and the cat 3.8 are suppose to be great and add a whole load of new features for the ati cards....

They are actually do out very shortly I believe... I am trying to get tmmick in here to post the info for ya but he is joansin about the HL2 benchmarks coming out today...

I just saw the review on Tom's Hardware about the new 9800XT. Direct X 9 support seems pretty good. The new Nvidia cards are due out soon so I'm going to play the wait and see game.

DarkPhan, while I haven't had an ATI card nearly every game I have played in the past 2 years has had instructions for ATI owners. I have never had this problem with Nvidia. But, I hear this trend is quickly reversing.

am still going crazy to see the new catalyst 3.8 drivers... Built in overclocker straight from ati.. And the new 9800 Pro XT will have monitoring software with it and realtime overclocking to where you do not have to restart the machine for the new clock frequency to kick in... I likey...

Here is the word. the 9800 pro 256MB is the top of the line high end card from ATI. 9800 all-in-wonder is the best do everything and then the 9600 pro is the best budget card from ATI.

Not to argue with you, but I have done some EXTENSIVE reading on this.

From what I gather (I could be wrong) games cannot take advantage of the 256 MB yet. And the 9800 XT would be the best right? I also read that the 9500 128 is better than any 9600. I keep seeing this in forums 9800>9700>9500>9600. But, as far as you getting prices, I am all for hearing what you can get bro! Daddy needs new ATI video

ATI 9600 vs 9500

That shows the 9500 doing better under certain circumstances, and the 9600 doing better in others. I'd like to see how the 9600xt's compare to what they have now.
