Anyone purchased or looking at a VGA box? I wanna device that lets me play my consoles on my PC monitor. This is mainly for a planned MOD, but need to keep quality in mind as well. I don't want to do this if the display looks like crap. Anyone got a favorite?

It outputs only 640x480 resolution so it looks not-so-great on a LCD monitor, and it flickers on a CRT because it is locked at 60Hz. If you can stand the slight flicker on a CRT, the picture itself is really nice compared to a non-HDTV setup. If you have an HDTV, then that is better. I have one if you want to try it and live around the KC area

My video card came with one, it's nice. You need a video capture program though. It also identifies itself as a webcam, so I can stream video games and television to people.

My VGA Box hooks up to my Playstation 2 and converts the signal to a 15pin VGA output, which you can hook up to a CRT or LCD (analog only for LCD) computer monitor.

Mine has an earlier caseing than their current model, but that is it for sure at Lik Sang. Bought mine on eBay a couple of years ago. Fun toy for LAN parties and much easier to carry than a 20in TV

I see the flicker at 60 Hz and it stopped me from buying some pretty cheap solutions that are locked in at 60 Hz.

60Hz on LCD is great. 60Hz on a CRT is bad for the eyes over a long day in front of the PC. For PS2 games, you don't really notice it much though, as they run 60FPS maximum anyway and the extra resolution of a good monitor helps a lot too as far as picture quality is concerned. Component video connected to my 27in Wega looks pretty darn good to though.

On the subject of refresh rates. I hate 60Hz with a passion. I use a program called refresh force to lock everything I can above 60Hz. One of the first things I did at my new job was to bump that desktop refresh up to 85Hz also .

I can see the tearing @ 60 but I don't normally see the flicker when nothing is moving. Playing games at 60 I can see some flickering I don't see at 85.
