20 dollar fee to get in the LAN
- That was cool, but I was under the impression that there would be free food. I paid for the first couple slices of pizza and a pop, thinking that I would either get reimbursed or be out a couple bucks, no biggy. But after someone went around and collected the entrance fee and handed out wrist bans, well, I started to wonder why I was still paying. I didn't mention anything, thinking that eventually someone would bring it up, to no avail. I wasn't happy with that. Granted the sandwiches were supposed to be free, but I missed out. My fault? Sure. Still doesn't make up for the pizza.

5 dollar fee to enter the tournaments
- Okay, fair enough. Where were the tournaments? Yeah, I realize we didn't have any teams and they weren't really warranted, but then, what happened to my 5 dollars? Oof.

As for leaving at 9am, well, I woulda stayed there indefinitely =P Someone's gotta call it quits. I can understand leaving before the advertised time. There weren't all that many people left and the gaming was getting sparce.

I don't really think we should be quibbling here. I think both parties made some blunders. Can't we learn from those mistakes? Deathsdoor has valid points: there were things advertised (door prizes and such) that were not handed out, tournaments that never took place (but were still paid for), and a plans for a future LAN never being laid out (which is something I'd certainly like to see). MWGL operators also pose good points: the food, advertised as free, was squandered for cash at the event, a "free" location was later hit up for -damages- to the utility bill (NOT cool), and "sponsors" (I use the term losely) were mislead into thinking the event would be some kind of cash cow. You don't sponsor a LAN to make money off it, you sponser the LAN to advertise your name and product. I think said goal was accomplished, only now the name Computer Depot is being seen as an abomination on the gaming community for underhanded tactics.

I think if everyone could admit to their mistakes and put the past behind them, this could be a very beneficial arrangement for both parties.

But then, I'm only a gamer, what do I know about running these things?

Zeddi, No money should have been taken for the tournaments... The tournament fee is seperate from your entrance fee so if you paid $20 then that was the correct amount, if paid any more then $20 then that is not right and you need to get in touch with me.

I don't think the guys colected the tourney entrance fees at all.

Prepay was $15
Door was $20
then it is $5 per tournament afterwards because the tournament entry fee goes into the pot for the top 3 winners.

Sorry about the pizza issue on Friday night. We(MwGL) had no idea it was coming until it was on the way and that caught us off gaurd since it was not ordered by us. Two times as much pizza was ordered as should have been. We were going to buy the pizza from Death but buy the time we had discussed it the pizza was cold so I did not want to give the attendees cold pizza. We spent extra money on the sandwiches the next day for people to try and compensate.

I appreciate you perspective....

It really wasn't a bad experience overall, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they should question why they're there.
