Calling All "Old Schoolers" quote:

OK... you guys know who you are. I just picked up the Command and Conquer Collection. Can't beat the price. Right now at CompUSA it's 14.99 (currently on sale, reg 19.99). Comes with C&C: Tiberian Sun, C&C Tiberian Sun FIRESTORM, C&C Renegade, Red Alert 2, and Yuri's Revenge. Oh and a demo of Generals.

I just had to let y'all know about this.

Yeah good price but you have to get Generals and Zero Hour if you really want some great gaming! I have played these games for hours just going through the mission and then I got a LAN game going and talk about a blast!

Everybody needs one of these combo boxes (this is what i was talking about in the stronghold thread). It's definatly worth the money, even at normal price. It would be great to get lots of people with it to play some big games at the next event.

Frankly I thought Zero Hour was a big Zero. They show naval units all over the box, and lead you to believe you'll actually get to use some like in all the other C&C series, but NOPE. Generals is still one of my favorite games, but Zero hour was a rip.

Yuri's revenge was the best in the series of expansion packs, and this is coming from a guy who played Dune & Dune II, which the original C&C engine was built on.

No I think you're mistaking Dune 2000 with the original Squirre1.

Here's the way things went down:

Dune (Copyright 1992 Cryo)
Mixture between adventure and strategy game, fairly simple and not very successful.

Dune II (Copyright 1992, Westwood Studios) Westwood bought the rights, upgraded the game engine and created the world's first "real-time strategy game".

Command and Conquer (Copyright 1995, Westwood Studios)
A real-time strategy series of computer games released by the game developer Westwood Studios, based on and alternate WWII timeline.

Dune 2000 (Westwood Studios, 1998)
Based around the game engine for Red Alert from Westwood Studios, the game is a remake of Dune 2 using then-current technologies.

Dune and Dune II, were the birth of real-time strategy.
