New Site Direction

There have been a number of visitors to our site over the years. They have browsed for information and they have come looking for local LANs. Local LANs use to be a large part of a gamers experience, but times have changed and continue to change for many reasons:

- improved performance of home connectivity, ping times and speed
- new blood to the gaming world, "why tear down my computer when I can play online just as fast?"
- and the explosion of the console world

...the classic gamer as my generation knows it is becoming a myth more and more each day.

While I long to see the days of the 100 person LAN, I do not know if it is a feasible reality.

Now all that being said, I would like to move this website in a different direction. No longer identified as the Mid-West Gaming League, we are shifting to the Mid-West Gamers League. Whereas the MwGL does not perform any "gaming" itself, but is a collection of individuals that are focused on the enjoyment of gaming. Hopefully this note will not come with a lack of action on my part, but I would like to see this site become a hub of information as it once endeavored to be.

Being a big fan of the Empire Earth series, and just having built my new gaming rig, I just happened to catch an eye that that Sierra is releasing Empire Earth III...
SIERRA ENTERTAINMENT PREPS FOR BATTLE WITH EMPIRE EARTH III DUE OUT IN FALL 2007

Player’s Endure the Test of Time in a Quest for World Domination

LOS ANGELES (February 23, 2007) – Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, announced today that the third iteration of the multi-million unit selling real-time strategy (RTS) series, Empire Earth® is in development on PC.

Developed by Mad Doc Software, Empire Earth III builds upon the success of the popular PC Gamer and IGN Editor’s Choice Award recipient Empire Earth II and redefines RTS games with a truly global approach to world domination.

“The Empire Earth series has been the recipient of much deserved praise from the media and fans alike, making it a multi-million unit selling franchise for Sierra Entertainment,” said Cindy Cook, chief strategy and marketing officer for Vivendi Games. “Empire Earth III will take the series to the next level with its ability to capture the entire scope of the globe and give it to the hands of the player.”

Empire Earth is the only RTS series that allows players to build and rule an empire from the ancient world to the distant future, battling it out across the globe through the eons in a bid for worldwide control. Unlike other RTS games that take away the spoils of victory, Empire Earth III will offer continuous free-form gameplay that will allow players to keep units from one battle to the next.

Empire Earth III will be available on PC in fall 2007. For more information, please visit the game’s official Web site at www.empireearth.com.
Being the RTS fan I am... Maybe this will pull me away from CoH.. :)

It's been out for a few days now, and it's pretty great. There are a few glaring bugs, but I'm sure they will be ironed out somewhat before the game is released. The new home town system is really fantastic, and adds a lot to the gameplay in my opinion.

Grab it here!

Also, make sure you try the F.E.A.R. demo if you haven't already, it's a lot of terrifying fun!
