Subject: Epic Starts New Gaming Studio

The folks over at HomeLan Fed have word that Epic Games is helping to start and fund a new game development company called Scion Studios. Apparently it all started with an Art Lead job listing which was posted Wednesday on the Gamasutra web site (free registration required). From the information given on the lising, the new studio which will apparently be housed in the same building as Epic's offices in Raleigh, NC.
When contacted for comment about the job listing, Epic Games' Vice-President Mark Rein told HomeLAN today, "The job application on Gamasutra is the only information we are giving out publically at this time. Any further infomation will be given only to qualified job applicants". He would not comment on what games the new company will develop. Rein did confirm that Scion Studios is being headed up by Dr. Michael Capps who until recently was the lead designer for the Unreal engine powered shooter America's Army: Operations.Hmm, will be curious to see what this new startup is geared towards, PC or console.
