To help with the popularity of Americas Army and to assist all the dedicated LAN Admins out there to incorporate AA tournaments into their events, the developers of AA are adding some tournament based features into their next release. Here is a snip of info from their site.
The next version of America's Army will feature new tournament mode features, which are accessible either via the command line or a gui interface. It will include an adjustable pre-match warm-up period with an in-game notification that the match is beginning. New Admin Functionality:
Admins are empowered with new capabilities, to include the following:
- Set the amount of time before the tournament starts
- Ability to designate or remove players as Squad Leaders (see below)
- Force the start of a Warm-Up period
- Ability to mute an individual player or entire team
Introducing: The Squad Leader
You may know this as "team captain" in other games. But to our fellow AA fans, we know of realize that squads are led by Squad Leaders, not Captains... But I digress. With the introduction of our new tournament mode features, Squad Leaders are delegated even more authority to properly lead their squads. Among these new features include the following:
- Ability to select players for his squad
- Ability to place a player on a specific fire team
- Ability to assign a player to a specific class
- Ability to mute individual player or entire squad
