Beta Sign-Ups
- Posted 10:46 PM By Anthos

You heard it right. We have two games that are currently accepting beta applications.

First, the ever-present Sony Online Enterntainment and Everquest II. Two groups will be given first priority in entering the beta: long-time subscribers to EverQuest Legends and players who met the requirements of the Lords of EverQuest special offer. These players have been notified separately by Sony. As always, you must be a registered member of Sony's "Station".

Second, and last for today, is The Matrix Online. Warner Bros. Interactive and Monolith Productions have today opened sign-ups for The Matrix Online beta testing. Those fortunate enough to get in on the beta will have a chance to experience the massively-multiplayer world of The Matrix complete with "wire-fu" antics and mandatory sunglasses.

Eidos To Put Out Imperial Glory

Look for this game to be out early next year (which translates into Christmas 2006). It's being developed by Pyro Studios. Here's some preliminary screenshots.

Wow. I just took a closer look at this game. It's a RTS, if you haven't looked at the full story, yet. The graphics look simply amazing. You're going to need one heck of a computer to run this thing, I think. Of course, the minimum requirements alway surprise me on new games. Eye candy is definitely gone when running on the min. req. But, I digress. Anyway, check out the full story, and check out the screenshots. This looks to be a very nice game.

Click below for the full story.

Those crazy Canadians at ATI are at it again by releasing what they call the world’s fastest visual processor: RADEON™ X800. ATI will offer two RADEON X800 products, the XT Platinum Edition (SRP $499) and the PRO (SRP $399) through retail, system integrator and OEM partners.
Gamers using computers powered by RADEON X800 will enjoy a higher performance, immersive gaming experience that looks better than ever before. This high-definition gaming experience is the PC equivalent to watching a sporting event on an HDTV. This is made possible by the highly scalable and efficient architecture of the RADEON X800 that uses 16 parallel pixel pipes and 6 vertex pipes to process more than 8 billion pixels and almost 800 million vertices per second.
There are alot of reviews around the web and we are going to compile a list for you to look at. Check back soon.

Well, the 2004 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) will be upon us 12-14 May and it's time to hear what we will expect along the lines of great games. Vivendi has released their lineup and its a good one. Some new games some sequels and an old school game hits the console with a new look.

Vivendi will be brining 18 multi-platform releases to the table. World of Warcraft from Blizzard Entertainment, marking VU Games’ entry into the massively multi-player online role-playing games category, StarCraft: Ghost, a tactical-action console game set in Blizzard’s epic StarCraft universe; Half-Life 2, the sequel to the 1998 PC hit that won more than 50 game-of-the-year awards; Crash Twinsanity and Spyro: A Hero’s Tail, the latest installments from two highly successful original character franchises; Van Helsing and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, titles based on major theatrical releases from Universal Pictures this spring; and Fight Club, a gritty fighting game based on the feature film from Fox Filmed Entertainment.

Vivendi has not posted their press release yet, so read the full story for a couple more games not mentioned in this post along with all the descriptions. Enjoy!

So Old, Yet So Young

I have no idea how we could have missed it, maybe we were just blind. A game was brought to my attention lately which is very sweet. Hearts of Iron is the name, Axis and Allies on crack is the game.

I can not say enough about this game other then it has about every country of the WWII era and they are all playable as well. Additionally, the map locations are so fine as compared to the larger areas of Axis and Allies. Here is a sample picture just of Europe for you to get an idea.

This is surely worth checking out just once for all you RTS players out there...

PS. They have just recently come out with a patch for the game in April. For a two year old game it is not being left behind. You can get the new patch here on FilePlanet, but we will be adding it to our download area shortly.
