Phantom Crash Gold (XBox)

There are times when I wonder why anybody would by an XBox, and then there are times I see games like Phantom Crash, which has just gone gold by the way, and wonder how quickly I can get to the store to pick one up! What's the game about anyways? Well, in a word:
If you are completely in the dark about the game, Phantom Crash takes the idea of robot warfare and adds a competitive edge with tournaments and cash prize incentives to upgrade your Scoobee, that's your robot to you and me. Naturally each Scoobee has its own unique features but there is one factor that stays constant, the optical camoflauge which adds that element of surprise to the combat which can be countered with detection devices which you'll need to equip.
Need more? Check out some of the screen shots. The game looks absolutely gorgeous, imho, I just hope it plays as good as it looks.

Just a Friendly Hello !!!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. News has been kind of slow in the PC world lately, but I didn't want anybody to think we had fallen off of the face of the Earth.

As noted above, we are working on scheduling the next MwGL LAN party (by the way, I think WE actually are the oldest LAN party in town -- hosting LAN get-togethers since 1996). We should have the next date nailed down very soon. Squirre1 has been working incredibly hard at instituting a reserved seating chart for registration, and we are also trying to simplify the registration process.

Our beloved tournament directors and server admins are also working on tweaks to the schedules and rules for tournaments to help things move along smoothly at events.

We once again want to thank everyone who came to the last LAN, and we hope you will come back again and again -- and bring new friends with you. Nothing would make us happier than filling the event to its maximum population.

As far as PC news is going, a few notable games have hit shelves since the last LAN event ... Age of Mythology being the most recognizable ... so hopefully we can try and play some new things at the next event.

Remember, if you have any thoughts or comments (or just want to rant), you can always do so in our forums. Our forum admins do pay attention to what you say, and we always try to work suggestions from our participants into our decision making process.

Well, have a good few weeks off, and we will see you at the next LAN.

Well, it comes with sad regret that we will be loosing a MwGL Member to the timely realities of life... Eric Hilden a.k.a. PC_Creature will be leaving the group to persue future opportunities and responsibilites... Oh no it is not women, he couldn't get one of those if he tried but anyway. We would like to say that his (Uh-hum) fresh perspective and Ummmm, oh yeah, his timely attitude will be missed... Best of luck to you Eric.. We will all miss you...

PS. Next time just print the damn map... :)

Future UT2003 Patch info released
- Posted 8:13 PM By Krogue
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
Word came out on Fileplanet the other day, that Steven Polge, with Epic, announced some of the upcoming changes that will be included in the next UT2003 patch.

Included in these are

GamePlay:
• friendly fire kills affect team scores
• allow weapon throwing with weapon stay on (but can't pick up thrown weapon if already have that weapon), plus added configurable gameinfo property bAllowWeaponThrowing (default true)
• don't spam "you are ready/not ready" messages to console before game starts
• fixed FFA DM overtime end conditions
• Ability to have custom announcer voices. Make a new announcer voice pack (with the same sound names as the original AnnounceMain.uax), named NewPackName.uax (where NewPackName = whatever you want to call it), and put it in the ut2003\sounds directory. Then, in the User.ini file (in the UT2003\system directory) change: [UnrealGame.UnrealPlayer] CustomizedAnnouncerPack="NewPackName"
• fixed strafe toggle
• support longer playernames on scoreboard/HUD
• show FPH in scoreboard
• fixed flags sitting on ground in CTF-Citadel
• made team section of HUD scaleable
• more minigun ammo
• really fixed 4 rocket bug
• Fixed DM-TokaraForest flags showing up
• fixed CTF-LostFaith KillZ
• spectating maintains view - when a player dies it continues to view the player when they respawn.
• improved texture precaching, removing a few early hitches
• moved arena mutator config and maplists from user.ini to ut2003.ini
update .ini files without overwriting them! (except for settings added or changed since we shipped)
• fixed bug when had more than 16 bots total on custom teams
• improved translocation (less failures)
• link alt no blood
• don't lose adrenaline if switch teams to team with less players

Those are just the gameplay patches upcoming. Even more is being done with video, sound, and hud performance. Looks like Epic is really working on making this game as good as it can possibly be.

Neverwinter Nights - Collector's Edition
- Posted 10:41 PM By Kagato
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
I'm not really sure why you'd wanna wait this long after a games release to offer a "Collector's Edition", but apparently Atari and Bioware are doing just that. They have announced plans to release a CE of Neverwinter Nights that should be on shelves around November 28th and carry a price tag of $79.99 (ouch!). What all do you get for that much green from the 'ol wallet? How about:
The Neverwinter Nights Collector’s Edition will feature all of the groundbreaking game play found in the original, including an extensive 100+ hour official campaign, which is also playable in multiplayer mode; the amazing Neverwinter Nights Toolset which lets players create their own adventures, and the Dungeon Master client that allows players to step into the shoes of the Dungeon Master to tell their own stories; and, most importantly, access to an absolutely thriving player community brimming with content and support.

• The Art of Neverwinter Nights – The first ever collection of Neverwinter Nights art features 120 pages of exclusive artwork straight from the creative geniuses at BioWare. The book comes loaded with concept art, ‘never before seen’ sketches and images with a foreword by Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.

• Official Neverwinter Nights Soundtrack – Featuring the soundtrack from Neverwinter Nights in its entirety as composed by Jeremy Soule. Seventy-two minutes of compelling, heart wrenching and primal music.

• Official Sword Coast Map/Mouse Pad – The exclusive Neverwinter Nights Collector’s Edition mouse pad features a detailed overview of the Sword Coast – a large geographical area in the Forgotten Realms where the game itself takes place.

• Collector’s Edition DVD Case – The entire three-CD game is presented in a new exclusive DVD collector’s case.

• In addition, the Neverwinter Nights Collector’s Edition will also contain an exclusive 34x22 poster of Lady Aribeth – Pallidin of Tyr, as well as a long-sleeve, Neverwinter Nights T-shirt.
I suppose if you're into collecting, it may be worth it, shame they don't have a t-shirt stating "I bought the Collector's Edition of "insert game title here" and all I got was this lousy t-shirt".

Last Diablo 2 Player Finally Calls It Quits
- Posted 6:28 PM By Kagato
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    1 Comment | Add
I imagine there's more Diablo 2 players in the world contrary to my subject, it's just that you rarely, if ever see one at a LAN Party. Anybody who's ever attended an MwGL event can attest to the fact that there's always been that one guy playing it, our very own Mojo Jojo. Shocking revelations today have been made and it appears that he to is finally turning a new leaf? Can it be true?
You all know me. You all know what my favorite game is. You all know my tendance to play a particular single person game in a room full of others playing muliperson games.

For those in the crowd who don't know me, I play Diablo 2. I play it a lot. I play it alone in a room full of people and don't invite anyone else to play with me. I have a problem and I have found the fix.

Which leads me to an announcement that I have to make.

I have stopped playing Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction.
And what is it that has finally pulled him away from the clutches Diablo?
I am sure that you all are reading this and wondering what has come over me. How could such a dedicated gamer like me put down all of this kick butt stuff and call it quits? Easy. Warcraft 3 hit my hard drive.
Well, at least Blizzard should be happy to know that he is still immersed in their products. Some day we'll have to introduce him to some FPS games, just a bit at a time so as not to overload the poor boy, haha.
