Temporary Tango 2.0 Gold

EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
While searching for other RB6 and RS stuff I found this MOD that was just recently released. It allows you to play the perspective of the terrorist in Rogue Spear. According to a review over at Pies Tactics which you can read here:
With TTT v2.0 Gold, Rodion has created a completely finished, very attractive package of what is certainly one of the most original, well-executed themes for a mod. The eight single player missions, as well as the ability to play the game in the multiplayer world makes this a stellar download. My only complaint is that the gameplay balance could have been further refined. Still, a worthy addition.
This sounds like a awesome MOD that is worth the 15Meg download. You can download the file here.

RA:UT 1.42 Release
- Posted 6:53 PM By Squirre1
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
Rocket Arena 1.42 has been released with a couple bug fixes. Mongo from RA:UT had to say:
The major bug was that as I was trying to fix the problems of the wrong team occasionally winning, I made it so the blue team ALWAYS wins, which is admittedly much worse than the problem I was trying to fix. Anyways, this has been amended in 1.42. It was that bug that prompted me to release 1.42. In addition, I included one small client fix since it was convenient, where the wrong menu would stay on the screen as you scrolled in to and out of clan arenas.
You can download the RA:UT Full Version(14.8 MB) or RA:UT 1.42 Patch(180 KB) from my affiliate UnrealCenter.

Temporary Tango 2.0 patch #1
- Posted 5:21 PM By Squirre1
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
There has been a patch release for the RS/UO Temporary Tango 2.0 GE MOD. Here are some of the issues it fixes:

- No more craches from "Lonely Tango" and "Killing Spree" from the Non-existent actor (a missing and non-implemented AW Covert sniper)

- Now, when playing MP Coop using the 8 modded missions (Pandora Prelude to Serpent Dash), your operatives should be wearing the tango uniforms specific to that mission. Take note that, in order to make this happen, you must DISABLE DEFAULT UNIFORMS prior to playing TTTv2.0 GE MP Coop missions.

- Inventory pics and MP Adversarial loading screens showed the old, non-hooded tango skins. This has been corrected. New redhead Sporty Girl loading skins also added to MP Adversarial loading screen.

You can download the patch from PiesTactics.

Android Bot Alpha 2 for HL:CS

EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
The makers of Android Bot have release Alpha 2 for Half-Life Counter-Strike. Here is a little snip about the new release:
The current version of the bot is alpha 2. The supported maps in this version are de_dust, de_cbble and de_aztec. The bot currently randomly walks through the level shooting at enemys. It already uses human-like viewmovement to aim it's view and buys random weapons with the money it has.
Some of the fixes and additions for this release are:

- bug fixed where bots would get a random amount of frags/deaths upon joining
- bug fixed where bots would sit on their spawnpoints and do nothing if mp_roundtime was lower than 3
- support for two new maps: de_cbble and de_aztec
- dedicated server support through the commands sv_addbot and sv_removebot
- addbot and removebot commands improved (you can specify a name for the bot now, remove bots from a specific team, and only the host of the game can issue these commands now)
- bots get upset if you plant the bomb and no-one in their team can defuse it
- bot skill levels tweaked
- better wall evading code
- bot aiming improved, the bots understand weapon-recoil now
- primitive bot hearing implemented. bots react to sounds made by potentially visible enemies
- jump waypoints implemented
- new waypoint system implemented. waypoints are divided into zones.
- numerous other small bug fixes

Freeze Tag 1.35 for Q3a
- Posted 11:03 PM By Squirre1
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
Freeze Tag version 1.35 has been released. Here is the info on this MOD:

In Freeze the goal is not to capture any flag, but rather, save your teammates and at the same time waste the enemy. Actually it's save the frozen teammates, follow any teammate group attack, keep the enemy away from their frozen fallen, and try to kill them at the same time. And make sure you don't die.

The main point of Freeze Tag is to eliminate the entire enemy team by freezing all of them, and thus score a point for your team.

If you're killed then you'll freeze and you won't be able to respawn like in normal deathmatch. This is a lot like certain realistic mods out there that take you out until next round. However in Freeze Tag you can get back into the game if a teammate stands by your frozen body for THREE seconds, then you'll thaw and can join in again (without waiting for the round to end). Frozen players will have a white cross-out on their face if you look at the scoreboard.

While frozen you can chasecam the other players. Or use the third-person view (Provided autoexec.cfg macro sets this all up easily). If you want more freedom, from the main menu pick team spectator. You'll now be in free.

D3D users of Unreal Tournament haved petitioned Epic to enable S3 Texture Compression in their D3D drivers. Here is the info from the petition:
The D3D users of Unreal Tournament have seen the light. For too long have we had to suffer with slow frame rates and poor image quality. This petition is here to stop it. This petition is to implement the S3 texture compression technology into the DirectX API for Unreal Tournament. We would like to see the second CD of Unreal Tournament put to use. Nvidia has even offered to help with this issue. Therefore, we would like to see the benefits of having S3TC (improved visual quality, higher frame rates) implemented into Direct3D.
I doubt Epic will do it but hey it is worth a shot.

BarrysWorld has a Unreal Fortress beta tester on their staff which posted a article Wednesday about to beta development of Unreal Fortress. Here is a nice little snip of what they had to say:
I can`t stress enough how good this mod is looking for something that`s so far from being finished. Aside from a few networking bugs, it really could be released now. I`ve no doubt the finished product will be something very special indeed - satisfying both the new Fortress players and the veterans. We`ve never had it so good.
Heck with a review like that for a beta, can't wait to see what the final is going to be like.

New Character Class for HL:CS
- Posted 8:36 AM By Squirre1
EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
There is some news from the guys over at Catacombs about the new Commander Class/BOT, they received this information in a reply to an email that was earlier sent to Valve.

This is what Valve had to say:
"Our next release is slated for early September. It will contain some very cool new maps, some new functionality and other bits.

Also coming in September are new player models. More on that later. The new class I think you're referencing has actually been dropped because it just wasn't as much fun to play as we originally hoped. Instead, we are implementing something we've dubbed the Commander Bot (working title). To players, it's like an automatic Coach class that gives you suggestions and information about your team's needs. So, for example, you might join a game and be informed that your team really needs some more HWGuys on defense, etc. The specific timing for release on this is still TBA."
This will be a nice addition to TFC and I think it will make a nice change.

Intel had a Developers Forum on Tuesday and demonstrated their new 2Ghz Pentium 4 to everyone. They are hoping to go into end-user testing by Q4. They are also asking that everyone come together to make a effort for better standards.
Barrett drove home his point, saying "I want to urge you to cooperate not only with companies like Intel, but with your competitors. Standards will ... help develop our industry much faster than isolated and competing standards."
Hmmmm. I wander if AMD has anything in the works and Intel is just a little worried? You can check out the whole article here.

CPL Adds Age Requirement

EMail News to a Friend  Printer Friendly Version    0 Comments | Add
Starting January 1, 2001, everyone who competes in a CPL tournament, that is on a ESRB Mature rated game, must be at least 17 years or age.

The CPL has allways required 15 and 16 year olds to participate with a signed parental release, but now anyone playing in the tournaments must have a verifiable proof-of-age document (i.e. driver's license, birth certificate, etc.) during check-in.

The CPL also announced that it will launch wide-scale tournaments featuring games with a more general rating, therefore allowing all family members over the age of six participation in the CPL world-class tournaments and events.

That kinda sucks for the people that just miss that because there are alot of parents that support what their kids do. Well at least you wont have to wait to long mojo519...

3DActionPlanet has done a article on the history of copy protection and its failure to succeed. In my opinion they should just give up, as stated in the article:
The real solution is to make very good games.

When a game is really good, people that want to play it WILL pay for it. People that won't pay will almost certainly be uninterested with the game.
Stop over there and check it out, it has some nice flashbacks from the days of keycodes.
